As you can guess, today I'm going to talk about a blogs' loading time, which is a very important part of effective blogging.
Source __ PinterestThe other day, I visited some blog that was so slow, that it took about 10 seconds to open. That made me think about my blog's loading time. I started collecting some information about how to check my blog's loading time and fix whatever I could fix to make it faster.
Let's agree, that nobody loves to visit a blog that takes more than 5 seconds to load, that really tests blog visitors' nerves. I'm afraid, not many of us will be patient enough to wait until visited blog will finally appear on the screen. Believe it or not, loading time can even affect your blog's ranking, in search results.
So, in order to ensure that your blog's loading time is fast enough to keep you visitors happy, you should try to do few things:
1. Make sure, your blogposts are not heavy in photos. Usually, too many, high-resolution photos
make pages too large that affect their loading time.
Having the photos on whole pages also makes blog slower.
2. Reduce Java scripts/ plug-ins on your blog. There are so many different kind of interesting
plugins out there that you may want to try more plug-ins to improve your blog or you are just
curious (like me) to check them out. But , it's better, if you use only a few basic plug-ins.
I used to have Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ plug-ins on the blog that obviously was not
helping blog's loading time, so I replaced them with social media icons.
Now, you may not be able to see my tweets or Pinterest boards, directly on my blog, but you can
definitely see them by clicking on each of my social media icons, on the left sidebar of this blog.
Another plugin I always wanted to have is the one, that shows your blog's visitors path in real
time but than I realized that it would just make my blog little slower so I never used it.
3. Reduce redirects:This is something I'm trying to take in consideration, but I still use one ("read
more") redirect in each post.
I know, right now, while reading this post, you are wondering if your blog is fast enough. Well, I,
personally use "Google Insights" , time to time, to check out my blog's loading time.
The best thing about it is that you can fix your blog's loading problems not only on desktop
version but on mobile version too.
What else would you add to these tips? Have you checked your blog's loading time? Tell me about your experience about it, in the comments below.
