The idea of writing this post came from that day, when I noticed too many sneakers in my closet and realized, how much my style has changed, since I moved to the United States. I used to wear very feminine, sexy outfits in everyday life, just like these:
I used to have mostly dark color (especially black) clothes and only high heel shoes (?) in my wardrobe.
No sneakers, no ballets, no caps.. I would never even imagine, leaving home without makeup.
I know, what you think right now, LoL. But I believe, that the society, a person grows up in, and the culture have a huge influence not only on someone's personality but also his/her style.

Last few years, my style has changed a lot, meaning, it has become more casual, more modest, and
colorful. Now, I don't get dressed up every day, sometimes I can just wear sneakers with my jeans and a cap and I can even leave home without makeup (only applying some nude lipstick). So, these casual outfits have become "normal" to me.
I have to recognize, that I still don't have any ballets in my closet, but I think, one day I will feel confident enough, to wear them as well.
How your style was changing over years? Tell me about it in the comments below.
And, have an amazing day.

Since I was born and raise in NYC I been dressing with the trend but lately wanting for comfort like jeans and sneaker. I do have plenty of black outfits I add a pop of color with accesories.
ReplyDeleteYou too, prefer comfort,Jackie, that's really important. I will never forget when I first went to Times Square with my regular high heels, even though my husband was begging me to wear sneakers, OMG that night I couldn't sleep with pain LoL
DeleteI think that was the day when I realized that the comfortable shoes were the most important thing in NYC streets.
I barely wore sneakers but now I do wear them often. great post BTW
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie.
DeleteOMG Nina, I soooo agree with you on this! I brought all my heels with me from Malaysia and living in a small retirement town now, I rarely ever use any of them. And when I do, people look at me funny!
ReplyDeleteI have never thought I would wear floral, animal prints or flats but now I've bought one snake print flats and I wear it everyday. No more skirt, heels and dress...always in jeans because it's easier to move around with the little one. Haha!

I love sneakers for those lazy days! Great inspiration. My style hasn't change that much.
ReplyDeletewww.effortlesslady.com
I can totally relate. I was born and raised in NY! I have been wearing heels on a daily basis since I was 12 lol. Like you I never owned a pair of sneakers. A few flats and sandals, but mostly heels. I studied fashion at FIT in NYC, every day there was a fashion show lol. I moved to FL 7 years ago, and now I probably wear heels once a week if I am lucky. I would have never thought. Like you I also wore a full face of makeup daily, but it can get very hot here so I keep it simple during the week and get dolled up on the weekend. I get a lot of funny stares when I wear heels to go grocery shopping or do anything still lol. Great post and you are gorgeous!!

I couldn't agree more, the style is more or less influenced by where we live and changes accordingly but the important part is to still have our own touch so we don't blend in completely :)

It's interesting how your style has changed. Looking back my style has changed a lot due to to different factors especially age. I tend to go for trustworth shoes that aren't going to hurt rather than a pair of heels where as in the past I was never out of my heels

I have to agree with you that the age can definitely change a person's style. xx

DeleteMy style has definitely refined itself as I've grown a bit older and have embraced my authentic self. Years ago, I was all about trends. Now, I wear a lot of classic pieces because they make me happy. :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
