The secrets of my 30 pound weightloss journey

Happy Monday everyone.
It's been almost a month since my last post on Nina's Style Blog and it felt like a century for me.  The reason I had to take a breack was that I decided to fully focused on myself, on my weight loss and healthy lifestyle. You may remember my post about how I lost 18 pounds without going to gym or dieting (if not, you can read it here: How I lost 18 pounds without dieting or going to gym) and since it was one of the most popular and most viewed posts on Nina's Style Blog, I thought I would share with you guys how I continued my journey to my goal weigh.

Downtown New York

This was me last summer, in Disneyland, before I started my journey, but my weight loss didn't start last year though. I, actually lost total 30 pounds in last 5 months.

After I lost 18 pounds, soon it was my daughter's 6th birthday on May 25th that we celebrated in her favorite kid's birthday place. I was so excited that I decided to forget about high fructose corn cyrup and enjoy a slice of the birthday cake or two, thinking that it could not be a big deal and next day I would go back to my reality. But unfortunately, it took me a few weeks to completely quit eating any kind of sweet (except fruit) just like I used to before the birthday party. (you know how it feels when you eat piece of chocolate or cookie, promising yourself it's gonna be the last piece that you are eating, but you forget next day, haha)
Those few weeks made me realize that any kind of sweet is like a drug for me, once I eat it,  it becomes extremly difficult to quit not only mentally, but phisically too, because I get headaches right after I quite sweet, that continues for about 10 days or so. It's emberessing to admit that I gained back half of those lost pounds.

I knew, that I had to do something to find the willpower again to look at the dessert in front of me and don't eat. It might sound silly, but I started listening to my favorite music that I used to listen back home, that reminded me my life when I was skinny,  and it made me miss my(old)self  so much that surprisingly, it helped me find a power in myself, not to eat any sweet when I was giving to my daughter for the dessert.
Now, you can eat a slice of cake or some yummy ice cream in front of me, and I will not want to try any. Those of you who follow me on Instagram must have seen in my Instastories  all this yumminess but I didn't even want to try.
Icecream and cakes at the local cake shop in Manhattan, New York

Icecream, coffe and cake __ everything was in front of me, when we went to a local bakery two days ago, but I didn't even want to taste them, (I was very proud of myself haha)
Once I saw, I was back on right track, I started jogging in the mornings for additional motivation. This month I went back to gym because it was too humid to workout outside, and I'm glad I did. I basically do cardio and Zumba at least 5 days a week and I can't imagine my life without it anymore.
The journey is not finished yet, I want to loose at least 25 more pounds but I am confident, I can do it.

This was all for today, if you have any question or would like me to post about my eating or fitness routine, feel free to ask me in the comments below.
Wish you all a fabulous day.

P.S
I'm going on vacation, beauties. I will be back on Monday, August 14th with my travel posts, so make sure you will come back to see my travel diaries.
Meantime, you can follow me on Instagram to see my InstaStories from Italy.

  6. It sounds like you are doing an amazing job and you do so well to exercise 5 days a week! For me, I struggle to find the time to fit everything in and going to the gym is often something that suffers. I definitely need to start making it more of a priority if I want to be in better shape for when I get married next year! x

It's normally always like this, we lose and then we get back some of the pounds we lost... so well done for this journey, you really inspired me, since I put on a lot of weight 6 years ago (both my parents died) and I did need it at the time, too much pain. But now I am much better and need to lose that weight :) You really inspired me! Hope you have a very lovely day!

I know about your parents loss, Denise, I've lost my father years ago and I totally understand, how devastating you could feel about the loss, that could easily make people loose controle of themselves whether in eating habits or in some other way. But I'm glad you are in better place now, and I'm happy to hear that my story inspired you. If I could do it , you can definitely do it too. Good luck on you weigh loss journey and please let me know if you have any questions about it. have a nice day, my dear.
