Blogging or Instagramming

Happy Wednesday lovelies,
Today's post is going to be little different. Have you ever questioned yourself whether it's still worth putting so much effort into blogging when you can just post on Instagram where more people can see what you want to say or what you want to show? Well, couple of weeks ago, this question came to my mind and made me slow down blogging. I kinda lost motivation, and I needed some time to think about the reasons I was blogging. Honestly, this is first time I was not sure it was worth my time to blog when I could (with less time and effort) keep instagramming and communicating with my over 145 000 Insta-friends.
San Diego, California , last summer

But after few weeks, when I missed blogging and missed checking out all of your blogs, I realised that blogging is my passion, and no matter how popular Instagram becomes and no matter how many followers I will have, it will never replace blogging simply because this blog is like my baby, I created and it belongs to me.
Don't take me wrong, there is nothing wrong about instagramming, but for me, it's completely different from blogging __ posting on Instagram is like being in public, while writing on my blog is like being home.

What keeps you motivated about blogging? Share with me in the comments below and have a fabulous day.

  2. I've actually come across a write up like this somewhere though I can't remember and I will say, no matter how much of instagramming one does, if you're passionate about writing, then it will be hard to let go of blogging. Secondly, I would mention that blogging is creation that comes from you even though one may see the same topics in a million and one places, the difference is the creativity behind it and so it has a personal attachment to you and if it disappears it's like a part of you just died. I learnt this when I was being trained as a child educator. The attachment children hold to the things they make or draw is borne out of their creative minds and what they see at that time. It's the same for we adults. I hope this helps

  3. Even I am confused, as I put in great efforts in my blog day and night while I see some people only instagramming and getting more popular and getting paid higher...! But as far as I am concerned, I just cant leave blogging...I just love penning down my thoughts... ! Great Post hun..

  4. I basically have been concentrating on only blogging and Instagraming. You are right, Nina, Instagram as much as I love it is not the same as blogging. My blog feels like my safe, personal haven while Instagram is more out there. The way I got my blogging passion back is by scaling down my commitment and quit chasing stats. Now I'm having fun with it again.

    1. Me too, I have stopped checking out the stats of my blog, a few months ago. I even cut down the ads and affiliate links in my posts. Just like you, Shireen, I just want to enjoy blogging.

  5. I see what you say Nina. Both the platforms are soo different. Instagram , you can present what you wan to say but I feel, in my Blog I can say it openly. Explain my words, present them in the way I want. Getting a following in Insta makes you feel you are visible in the word but while Blogging, It is different. You might not have so many subscribers, still you write coz you love to write.
    Happy Blogging :)

  6. Love this post! I've definitely slowed down my blogging frequency, and upped my instagram posting which has made life so much easier. But I know I'd miss blogging if I let it go completely. Balancing is key, and you get the best of both worlds <3

  7. I don't even have an Instagram account, I am still considering whether I should do it... up to now, I like blogging. Surely it's a massive effort, but I like it :) Glad you posted again!

  10. I love that you're talking about this subject. I started blogging because I felt I have something to say and that I can help people when it comes to fashion and I find that by blogging I'm able to do that and Instagram is just an extension of my blog.

  19. These are two different things, blogging is something I love and will continue to do it no matter what. Posting on instagram is a fun process as well, but not as much as putting a nice content in the blog and sharing reviews and opinions about products. Great post :)

  26. That's so very true, it does feel more like home with blogging and in public with Instagram because of the huge reach. It's also very different in the sense that you hold people's attention longer on a blog post, so you can also create a stronger relationship with your readers in a sense. Thanks for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great week so far!

  28. I prefer blogging, to me IG is just a social network where I share something I have blogged about plus something more, but writing a post is much better than posting a pic. My two cents. Lovely post, kisses

  29. I agree, blogging and instagramming are really two separate things. It took me some time realize that Instagram very rarely referred traffic to my blog, like other social media, so to do anything on Instagram, really was separate. But, I enjoy both equally, for different reasons!

  32. I love blogging bc it allows me to give more detail about something & style tips. If I just love a piece, I will probably post it on Instagram, but if I have something to say about a trend or what I'm wearing I will turn it into a blog post

  39. I like instagram but it's not as in depth as blogging. It's nice to read more about people's day in a blog post than the short little bits of text you get on instagram. I love them both and will probably keeping doing both for a bit longer. Glad you've decided to stick with both too :)

Hope you are having a great weekend!
